The world boating scene in 2025 will be enriched by a revolutionary new addition: Grand Soleil Blue. This new model from Grand Soleil Yachts, which has been synonymous with innovation and quality in the sailing world for over 50 years, will have its world premiere at the prestigious Boot Düsseldorf, scheduled to take place from 18 to 26 January.

But why does this vessel represent an epoch-making turning point? Grand Soleil Blue seeks to combine elegant design with cutting-edge technology for truly sustainable sailing at the highest level, now let’s see how in detail.

GS BLUE-profilo -G-0009The result of a collaboration between internationally renowned experts, this new model is designed with a length of around 10 metres and the capacity to accommodate up to four people overnight. Grand Soleil Blue is the result of a synergy between the shipyard, Matteo Polli (naval architecture), Nauta Design (general layout, interiors and exteriors) and NL Comp, a leader in the development of recyclable materials.

“The sea is our passion and our home,” said Gigi Servidati, President of Cantiere del Pardo. “With the GS Blue, we have shown that it is possible to combine performance, aesthetics and respect for the environment, offering a boat designed for future generations.”

Every component of GS Blue has been selected to ensure minimal environmental impact, from construction to end of life.

Among the most significant innovations, the boat’s structure uses a thermoplastic resin developed by NL Comp, which allows glass or carbon fibres to be separated from the resin, making it possible to completely recycle the components. In addition, the ‘smart’ design facilitates disassembly and recycling of each part, minimising waste.

Electric propulsion and energy autonomy

The GS Blue is equipped with a 6 kW electric motor with E-Propulsion’s Pod Drive direct drive, ensuring silent, zero-emission sailing. The system is powered by an 8 kW LiFePO4 lithium battery bank, which can be recharged in 7.2 hours, with the possibility of doubling the capacity without increasing recharging time.

To increase autonomy, the boat is equipped with Solbian’s integrated photovoltaic panels, with a total power output of 340 W. These panels power both the engine and on-board services, ensuring continuous renewable energy. In addition, the hydrogen system uses the propeller flow to recharge the batteries while sailing, with a minimum output of 250 W at a speed of 6 knots.

Innovation in sails and materials

The sails of the GS Blue, developed by OneSails, embody the same eco-friendly philosophy. Made from 4T FORTE™ thermoplastics, they are the world’s first fully recyclable ‘green sails’, produced without the use of glues or solvents, but through a hot melt process.

These features are combined with an elegant and functional design, intended to offer a unique and environmentally friendly browsing experience.

The Grand Soleil Blue benefits from the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, aimed at promoting experimental research and development projects. This contribution made it possible to transform an ambitious vision into a tangible reality, destined to leave its mark on the nautical sector.

Making its debut at Boot Düsseldorf 2025, the Grand Soleil Blue represents much more than a boat: it is a manifesto of sustainability, innovation and design for a better future. An unmissable event for all sailing enthusiasts and for those who dream of a more responsible boating industry that respects our seas.
