A new challenge awaits Tuccoli Marine, the historic shipyard based in Tuscany, which has been awarded a €9 million contract to build six new patrol boats for the Carabinieri Underwater Unit. The contract was awarded following a negotiated procedure launched by the Carabinieri General Command, in which seven companies in the sector took part. The selection was based on stringent technical requirements, production capacity, supplier reliability and the value of the solutions proposed. Tuccoli Marine has once again demonstrated its ability to respond effectively and innovatively to the operational needs of one of the main bodies of the State, confirming its authority in the professional boat sector.

The contract award for the Carabinieri represents a significant milestone in the development and diversification strategy of Tuccoli Marine, which has invested heavily in the growth of its ‘Professional’ division in recent years. This branch of the company designs and builds highly specialised watercraft for law enforcement agencies, maritime authorities, rescue organisations and environmental agencies. Unlike recreational craft or traditional fishing boats, professional vessels must guarantee high performance in all operating conditions, as well as incorporate sophisticated technical equipment tailored to the missions to be carried out at sea. To meet these requirements, the shipyard has set up an independent design department with specialised personnel, naval engineers, technicians and project managers with experience in both the military and civil sectors.

The six patrol boats commissioned by the Carabinieri will be made of reinforced fibreglass and will have a total length of 15.5 metres. Each unit will be designed to operate in complex scenarios, including operations on the high seas, underwater reconnaissance and recovery activities. On board there will be an ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) for scanning the seabed, a crane with lifting capacity for underwater materials and loads, an integrated system for recharging diving cylinders, as well as a folding platform to facilitate diving and ascent operations for the Carabinieri divers. The estimated construction time for each boat is approximately 9-10 months, demonstrating the efficiency of the Tuccoli production line and its ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising on build quality. Tuccoli Marine: 70 years of quality and innovation

The project represents a natural evolution of the path taken by Tuccoli Marine in the workboat segment. Back in 2024, the shipyard delivered a rescue unit to the Alto Garda Fire Brigade and recently won a new tender launched by ARPAL Lazio for the supply of vehicles for coastal and marine environmental monitoring, with deliveries scheduled for 2026. The success achieved with the Carabinieri is therefore not an isolated incident, but the result of a clear strategic vision aimed at creating a complete range of nautical solutions for institutional, emergency and environmental use.

The CEO of Tuccoli Marine, Paolo Sanguettola, commented: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen by the Carabinieri for such a sensitive and strategic project. It is recognition of the quality of our work and the professionalism of our people. This award consolidates our commitment to innovation and diversification of production, which today successfully complements the leisure sector alongside the professional sector.. The CEO’s words reflect Tuccoli Marine’s production philosophy: combining the technical rigour required in operational applications with the style, construction care and know-how typical of Italian-made boats. From traditional fishing to the Carabinieri

With a history dating back to 1956, Tuccoli Marine has successfully navigated decades of technological and market evolution while remaining true to its identity. While reinterpreting the fisherman for recreational boating and sport fishing enthusiasts, it has also created boats capable of meeting much more stringent standards, such as those designed for the Carabinieri. The boats leaving the Collesalvetti shipyard today stand out for their sturdy hulls, meticulous finishes, comfortable living spaces and functional design focused on efficiency and safety. The balance between craftsmanship and technology is one of the brand’s strengths, ensuring both comfort for private customers and the reliability required by public institutions, law enforcement agencies and port authorities.

In an international context where maritime safety is becoming increasingly important, the ability to build cutting-edge professional vessels represents a fundamental competitive advantage. For Tuccoli Marine, this new partnership with the Carabinieri is not just a commercial achievement, but also an opportunity to make a concrete contribution to protecting the territory and Italian waters, putting the quality of Italian boating at the service of the State.
