Following the success of the BF350, Honda Marine raises the performance bar even higher by presenting the new Honda BF300 at Boot Düsseldorf 2025, a V8 outboard that combines power, efficiency and control at the highest level. This is not just a technical evolution, but a true statement from the Japanese manufacturer: a new generation of marine engines designed for an intuitive, safe and at the same time high-performance sailing experience.
Power and silence: the 5-litre V8 architecture
The new Honda BF300 V8 is based on a 5,000 cc, 60° engine block with an eight-cylinder configuration that delivers full, continuous power of up to 300 hp. But it is not just the thrust that impresses: thanks to Honda’s engineering expertise, noise and vibrations are kept to a minimum, ensuring smooth sailing even at high speeds.
The heart of the BF300 beats according to the logic of the most advanced technologies: VTEC™, for variable 32-valve timing that optimises performance at all rpm and provides extra power; BLAST™, which enhances torque at low revs for instantaneous and powerful acceleration; and ECOmo, for intelligent fuel consumption while cruising at constant speed and reducing fuel wastage. Three technologies working in synergy to offer the best balance between efficiency and power, this new model represents the pinnacle of Honda engineering: an engine destined to redefine the concept of power and control at sea.
Honda BF300: refined design, aerodynamic line and iST technology
Honda does not neglect the aesthetic side: the BF300 is available in the iconic Aquamarine Silver and Grand Prix White colours, with a modern silhouette, tapered lines and three-dimensional chrome logos. Aerodynamics and hydrodynamics have been optimised to reduce drag (minimising pressure variations from the drive train to the propeller, preserving dynamic performance and avoiding cavitation problems), improve efficiency and offer a more direct and precise driving feel.
The design is functional: every detail is designed to enhance the user experience, from the control panel to the mounting system. The result? An engine that perfectly complements the design of modern boats, especially premium and leisure models.
The new Honda BF300 is equipped with the latest generation Drive By Wire (DBW) system, with a recessed electronic lever and iST (Intelligent Shift and Throttle) technology for precise digital engine management. This means smoother manoeuvring, instantaneous response and intelligent gearbox and acceleration management.
Other useful functions include Cruise control, which adjusts the boat’s constant speed at the touch of a button, Auto Tilt, which ensures the operation of a pre-set simple tilt for use during storage or mooring, and Trim Support, which automatically activates trim control based on engine or boat speed.
The new 7-inch multifunctional touch screen display makes control even easier: all functions, including Trim Support, Tilt Limit and Cruise Control, can be operated quickly and intuitively. A comprehensive dashboard that puts the full potential of the engine at the fingertips of the captain.
The BF300 is part of a broader vision of integrated innovation, as demonstrated by the new strategic partnership with Ultraflex and Vetus, officially launched at the Genoa 2024 Boat Show.
The BF300 is part of a broader vision of integrated innovation, as demonstrated by the new strategic partnership with Ultraflex and Vetus, officially launched at the Genoa 2024 Boat Show. Thanks to this alliance, Honda Marine has integrated an advanced manoeuvring system on the BF300 that combines joystick, bow thruster and DBW for an unprecedented sailing experience.
The IntegraJS™ system developed by Ultraflex makes it easy to manage every manoeuvre with just the joystick, on both single and multi-engine boats. Vetus completes the system with the BowPro propulsion, an electronically controlled bow thruster that enables lateral movement, rotation and turning with surgical precision.
Arthur Roeling, Vetus R&D Director, said: “The integration of our BowPro system with the Ultraflex joystick control and Honda engines represents one of the most advanced solutions ever developed to facilitate mooring and manoeuvring, making navigation smoother and more intuitive.”
Performance and sustainability: Honda BF300
The new Honda BF300 is aimed at a demanding audience: high-end boat owners, premium boat builders, but also professional operators who need a powerful, reliable and technologically advanced engine. It has already been preview tested on the Ranieri Next 275 LX, demonstrating excellent performance even under the most demanding conditions.
Thanks to the combination of engine, bow thruster and joystick, the BF300 allows even the most inexperienced to manoeuvre safely in harbour. The system is designed to reduce stress during mooring manoeuvres and increase the helmsman’s confidence, even in windy or current conditions.
Honda Marine does not neglect its environmental commitment. The “Road to Emission Zero” project envisages the total reduction of CO₂by 2050, an ambitious goal that finds its first concrete expression in the BF300: a clean, efficient engine designed to consume less and sail better.
ECOmo technology, in particular, adjusts fuel consumption according to speed and load, reducing emissions and operating costs. This makes the BF300 not only a performance choice, but also a responsible one. What about the warranty? Unbeatable, it is insured for both professional and domestic use. The guarantee retains the same value throughout its duration, which means that the last day of cover has the same value as the first.
The new frontier of outboard engines has arrived
The launch of the Honda BF300 marks another step forward in the Honda Marine range renewal strategy. It is not just a new engine: it is a concentrate of innovation, efficiency, design and ease of use that promises to become the benchmark for those seeking the best at sea.
With an expected availability in the official Honda Marine network from June 2025, the BF300 is set to become one of the most desired engines of the year. And with the official presentation also planned for the Genoa Motor Show next September, enthusiasts will soon have the chance to try it out live.
