The flagship of the range, the largest boat produced by the brand, the flagship of 2025: this is Aquador 400HT.

Long-awaited, highly desired and designed even before the release of the brand’s other two yachts (the approximately 8-metre 250HT and the approximately 9-metre 300HT models), the Aquador 400HT is set to amaze the world in January 2025, when it will be officially presented to the public at the forthcoming Boot in Düsseldorf, which will also mark the shipyard’s 30th anniversary celebration.

A few days ago, in a preview of the official presentation, Nautic Times took the opportunity to see, touch and test this new product in a characteristic location in northern Poland, Ostroda, where the Masuria Lakes hosted the navigation trials.

The Aquador Boats brand, founded in 1995, has always been synonymous with elegance, precision engineering and safety, without compromise. This brand, which has been part of the Nimbus Group for a few years now, has been able to combine tradition and innovation, winning over sea enthusiasts with boats of distinctive design and strictly premium quality.

Not long after the brand’s special debut in America, during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show held from 29 October to 2 November, Aquador Boats decided to shock the world of powerboats just over 10 metres with a cabin cruiser that is a hit in all respects… but let’s take it in order, let’s analyse it well before seeing how it sails!

The exterior: the luxury cabin cruiser that captivates in every detail

Modern lines, glossy black inserts that create a sporty and extremely attractive hull geometry, a much sleeker silhouette than its smaller sisters while remaining stable, comfortable and very cosy.

This is precisely the strong point of the entire Aquador line, and the 400HT does not disappoint either, embodying the philosophy of freedom and comfort that has always been the brand’s hallmark, where relaxation and quality are the two watchwords.

With a length of 12.10 metres and a beam of 3.96 metres, this vessel is designed to offer large and versatile spaces, ideal for cruising in all weather conditions.

The “AquaDynamic” hull features an innovation that improves navigation efficiency, reduces fuel consumption and ensures stability even in rough sea conditions.

The Aquador 400HT offers different engine configurations to suit the needs of every yachtsman:

  • Two Mercury Verado 350 HP V10 outboards: for top speeds of up to 36 knots.
  • Two Volvo Penta D4 320 HP Diesel inboards.
  • Two Mercury V6 Diesel 270 HP inboards.

Climbing aboard from the stern, we immediately find ourselves on the huge deck. To starboard we find the small access door to enter the cockpit, covered by a sturdy and functional hardtop that provides protection from the elements without sacrificing brightness and airiness thanks to the large windows and opening canopies, which we will explain in a moment.

In the middle of the aft platform, there is an L-shaped sofa with a slightly raised table, which can be converted into a sunpad by electrically lowering the table and ‘sliding’ the seat cushion. Here is the perfect place to have a decidedly “sea view” aperitif.

On the left, on the other hand, we have a convenient access with three wide steps up to the side walkway that leads us to the bow. Before entering the cockpit, to the right of the entrance, we find three small steps leading up to the raised starboard side decks and, in one of these, under a cover, there is accommodation to place a joystick and the aft manoeuvring controls.

As soon as we enter the cockpit, on the left we find the convivial area par excellence of this boat: an electrically adjustable opening table that houses a really large C-shaped sofa around it, in which up to 10 people can be seated and which, if necessary, becomes the fourth bed.

Also on the left side of the Aquador 400HT, we discover that the backrest of the dinette can accommodate a retractable television, which is difficult to notice if you don’t know about it beforehand, as it is cared for and upholstered like a normal cushion. This gives way to a double seat with a sloping backrest, which is placed just half a step above the floor but allows friends and family to converse quietly with the driver and his co-pilot.

This interesting seating solution then hides a surprise: thanks to a pull-out cushion (with drink holder included) it becomes a truly comfortable chaise longue.

On the starboard side of the cockpit, on the other hand, is a fully equipped galley, which includes a diesel cooker, a large refrigerator and options for smaller fridges or a top-loading freezer, a separate sink and convenient compartments for cutlery, as well as a very generous amount of drawers.

Behind the galley, towards the bow, we find two armchairs for the driver and one person next to him, both of which can be adjusted separately. Opposite, we find the dashboard, which is slightly raised above the cockpit floor for perfect visibility when driving. The standard configuration includes a 12-inch chart plotter, with the option of upgrading to two 16-inch multifunctional screens. The carefully positioned controls allow intuitive operation of the on-board systems: throttles, bow thruster and joystick.

Visibility, as we mentioned earlier, is truly optimal: the windscreen is composed of a series of polarised panes of glass that embrace the entire cockpit, and in the side windows they open almost completely thanks to two large windows. Both the opening of the windows and the adjustment of the lights and sound system can be controlled via the touch screen home automation panel.

The hard top also needs a brief explanation because, in addition to being really well finished with padded ceilings, it is equipped with several dimmable LED spotlights and no less than four windows, two large ones in the bow that can be opened electrically (standard) and two smaller ones in the rear that can also be opened (optional). All the windows can be darkened thanks to sliding curtains (an improved system compared to the other two models from the shipyard) that shade the entire cockpit to better preserve the boat and to protect it on very sunny days.

The usual Aquador system of crystal rear tarpaulins, which completely enclose the boat in winter or in bad weather conditions, is always stored inside the side hatches of the hard top, so they are immediately ready for use and ‘folded’.

On the outside, on the other hand, we find the two windscreens (much wider than the previous models) still equipped with a high stanchion and several handrails, a classic sign of the solidity and safety that the Scandinavian shipyard wants to provide to its customers. In the bow, a generous sundeck completes the work, thanks to two real adjustable armchairs (optional) that simulate beach loungers, with attached cup holders, but much more comfortable.

The interiors

The Aquador 400HT boasts a carefully designed interior to maximise space and offer superior comfort. With three double cabins and a total of eight berths, the boat is ideal for long cruises with family or friends.

The main cabin is equipped with a large bed that fills the entire bow triangle and a large wardrobe. The other two guest cabins are separated with doors and enjoy private storage space inside. The bathroom includes a toilet, sink and separate shower stall.

The Scandinavian-style finishes use light tones and high-quality materials, creating a cosy and refined ambience, which is immediately noticeable from one detail: the entire floor of the cabins is covered in soft carpeting. The heating and air conditioning system ensures maximum comfort in all seasons, allowing this cabin cruiser to be used truly all year round.

Aquador_400HTThe proof Of Aquador 400HT: an outlier that surprises

It is a cold morning at the beginning of December in Ostroda, the rain has not left us for a second since we arrived, and on the shores of the lake we can already see the fog… these are not ideal conditions for testing a boat, but they are certainly realistic and can make us realise whether Aquador 400HT is really made for all seasons.

We climb aboard, take a look around and leave the dock: in turn I and the other two journalists present test the boat. I take my time, as long as my colleagues are driving, to study, scrutinize and appreciate every single angle of this vessel and I must say that I like it already, very much.

There is a lot of space on board, the generous height of the hard top makes everything much more airy, and the large windows and the crystal glass certainly help too: it is a closed boat, which is not a closed boat... that’s how I would sum it up.

The water temperature in the lake where we are testing is 4.4°C, we have a full tank of water and 65% fuel with five people on board, I sit down at the controls and off we go!

IMG_3901The position at the helm is really comfortable, the seat with the adjustable cushion allows us to drive either seated or semi-seated, either way the visibility is perfect. The boat we are testing is powered by two Volvo Penta D4 inboards of 320 hp each and as soon as I touch the throttles Aquador 400HT reacts, starting our navigation.

Although a little nervous with the Volvo engines, this boat is stable, controlled and safe. As a rule I have to do a stretch of the lake not exceeding 6 knots, which gives me the opportunity to see how the hull behaves at low speeds. It keeps its direction and does not get disrupted by the reflection waves that we generate and bounce back to us from the lakeshore: already a nice positive point.

Driving is really relaxed, I accelerate and at 11.7 knots I am already on plane, the hull comes out of the water and raises the bow slightly, which is fine and does not affect either the view or navigation. The hull stretched out and in a flash I was up to 20 knots without realising it.

I start to make a series of turns and counter-turns, you have to be careful because the lake is really narrow and there are several places where the water is shallow, but Aquador 400HT behaved very well, in fact, if I had to turn at the last to bring me back to the centre of the channel she responded precisely and instantaneously.

At 27 knots, the turns are smooth, safe and clean, and even after trying to cross my own waves I can say that the hull is really designed for those who just want to relax: no noise of waves hitting the hull, no jolts and never once have I or the other guests felt on edge or in danger.

Even in reverse it reacts really well, with this motorisation and the conditions of that day, at maximum speed we reached 36.7 knots with the engines at 3540 rpm and a total consumption of 126 Lt/h from both engines, not bad really, but this boat is not made to go at full throttle all the time, Aquador 400HT is made to enjoy the sea, guests and longer or shorter cruises without having to have a watch in hand and, above all, in the greatest possible comfort. Conclusions

The combination of sophisticated design, advanced technology and build quality translates into Aquador 400HT with three words: robustness, safety and comfort.

It is the ideal boat for those seeking relaxation and space without compromise, while not having to sacrifice any aspect in terms of quality, comfort and elegance compared to land. The thickness and type of materials used, the high-end stitching and finishing, the many plus points of this boat are not trivial, taken for granted, but are the result of great design work that makes this boat a cabin cruiser of the highest level.

What particularly amazed me about the Aquador 400HT were the many innovative solutions that turned a boat for family and friends cruising into a real experience, to be enjoyed together with loved ones.

Although I am the first one who hates having obstructions and steps on the boat, the two half-steps to access the outside dinette and the inside chaise longue do not bother me at all, and despite having used it for a couple of whole days, I have not happened to bump my foot. Another detail: there are no sharp edges, but all corners and surfaces are bevelled.

The transformable dinette aft, the retractable TV, the extendable chaise-longue, are all small details that make the Aquador 400HT a great boat, perfect in its quality, seaworthiness, range and space for what the Italian, and I would add, the Mediterranean market wants.

Very little is left before the whole world can see and touch it at Boot Düsseldorf 2025 from 18 to 26 January. In the meantime, I can tell you that it is a really great boat, the Scandinavian quality of Aquador Boats has really outdone itself this time with the flagship of the range.
