At the upcoming Boot Düsseldorf 2026, the historic Swedish shipyard will unveil the new Nimbus 12 Series, a direct evolution of the Scandinavian brand’s most successful line. Three models: Weekender 12, Tender 12 and Commuter 12 share a clear philosophy… don’t change what works, but amplify it. More ergonomics, more liveability, more Nordic aesthetics, more connection with the sea. Everything that Nimbus owners already loved is now simply more.
The 12 Series is not designed to impress from afar, but to convince when you step on board. The aesthetic innovations are directly linked to functional improvements, while the design remains faithful to the Nimbus tradition: seaworthiness, comfort and design focused on the owner’s experience.
For Jonas Göthberg, Commercial Director of the shipyard, the direction was clear:
“The owners told us what they love. The 12 Series delivers exactly that and more. These are not changes for the sake of change: they are improvements that serve real use, socialising and time spent at sea.”
A philosophy that guided every stroke of the pencil.
Nimbus 12 Series: a new, instantly recognisable profile
The new exterior design introduces a more assertive stylistic language that is immediately recognisable from a distance. The lines remain faithful to the Nimbus family feeling, but evolve, as in the case of the extendable head platform, structurally integrated into the hull to ensure more direct contact with the sea.
The polished steel Nimbus logo becomes a true visual signature, enhanced by this new hull side decoration and completely redesigned handrails. The result is a rigorous, never ostentatious, Northern European elegance.
On board, the leap in quality is immediately noticeable. The new driving seats, designed with extreme care, offer greater lateral support and optimised ergonomics, allowing for long navigation without fatigue. An innovation that can only be truly understood after hours of navigation: ‘you don’t see it right away, but you feel it deeply.’
Tender 12, Weekender 12, Commuter 12: same soul, three directions
The Nimbus 12 Series is divided into three distinct personalities, each with a specific vocation but united by the same design DNA.
The most obvious evolutionary leap concerns the Tender 12, which features a wider and longer T-top, integrated with solar panels and anti-glare acrylic sections. A solution that combines contemporary aesthetics and real functionality, offering protection from the sun without obstructing the view. The most interesting new feature is the opening side balcony on the starboard side, which opens up the aft space, transforming it into a real lounge area when at anchor. For the first time, the Tender 12 can be equipped with a twin engine setup of 425 hp Mercury V10 engines, bringing performance to the top of the range.
The Weekender 12, on the other hand, focuses on conviviality. The new Targa version, a tribute to the historic Nimbus 32 Ballista, reinterprets an iconic aesthetic in a modern key. The opening side balcony amplifies the flow and opens the boat to the sea, transforming the aft deck into a free, Mediterranean and social space.
The Commuter 12 remains the technical choice for those who sail all year round. The redesigned aft deck offers more usable space, while the enclosed interior dinette allows for protected cruising even in northern climates. The galley-up galley configuration optimises movement on board, while the fold-down stern seat multiplies the scenarios of use, from quick transfers to stops in port.
Technology at the service of experience
The Nimbus 12 Series retains the famous two-step hull shape, a technical feature that allows these boats to travel at speeds of over 45 knots with stable and dry trim, even in rough seas. This ‘nautical’ behaviour inspires confidence and allows you to sail not only fast, but for long periods.
In terms of propulsion, outboard engine models can be equipped with Mercury joystick control, with an integrated thruster for intuitive manoeuvring and stress-free docking. Volvo Penta engine configurations are available for the Tender 12 and Commuter 12, with an Assisted Docking package for assisted mooring at low speeds.
An optional hydraulic bathing platform for outboard engines allows direct access to the water and also serves as a gangway at mooring. Completing the picture: improved lighting, new windscreen wiper systems, advanced acoustic management and optimised ventilation. A thorough improvement, not aesthetic but practical.
A range for those who want to experience the sea, not just look at it
The Nimbus 12 Series is designed for passionate and knowledgeable owners: it is not made to impress at the quayside, but to accompany us safely at sea, in all conditions. A long weekend with the family, a transfer between islands, the silence at anchor, an aperitif at sunset: every design choice is made to enhance these moments.
‘When you love something, you don’t replace it. You refine it,’ says Joacim Gustavsson, Chief Designer at Nimbus. ‘You won’t notice every new feature at first glance, but you’ll feel it as soon as you step on board.’
If you would like to see them at Boot Düsseldorf, Nimbus Boats will be present at stand Hall 4, A56-62.
